Ginkgo
Ginkgo biloba
The Ginkgo tree are deciduous broad-leaf trees with green leaves that
make a showy display during autumn in a bright yellow hue. Also
referred to as a maidenhair tree, this plant grows to a height of 50 to
75 feet with a 50- to 60-foot spread. The lobed, fan-shaped leaves add
interest to the garden as they are easy to see with the ginkgo's open
canopy.
Ginkgo trees grow best in hardiness zones 4 to 9. For most
successful development, locate these trees in areas that provide full
sunlight to partial shade. Though this tree thrives in moist, sandy soil, Ginkgo trees grow in a wide range of soil conditions.
